Joc Pederson activated, Michael Helman optioned

The Texas Rangers have activated DH Joc Pederson from the injured list, the team announced today. To make room for him on the active roster, the Rangers have optioned outfielder Michael Helman to AAA Round Rock.

Pederson has been out for right about two months after a broken wrist, suffered when he was hit by a pitch. He did a couple of rehab games in Frisco on Thursday and Friday, and that was apparently sufficient for the team to feel he was ready to go.

Pederson got off to an awful start to the season, and is sporting an ugly .131/.269/.238 slash line currently, though he was performing better in the stretch prior to his injury. He will resume being the everyday DH against righthanded pitchers.

With Josh Smith playing pretty much regularly, Ezequiel Duran is the primary bench infielder, and so he sticks around instead of Helman.
