CINCINNATI (WXIX) – One downtown business says it’s pulling out of downtown after a recent spike in violent crime and other issues plaguing the area.
Founder and CEO of One Logistics Network, Victor Louis, says downtown Cincinnati was once an area he wanted to be in. Now, he says it’s time to relocate his business.
The firm is located on Seventh Street in the downtown neighborhood of Queensgate.
Louis says the primary reason he’s looking to move his business is for growth purposes.
“We’re continuing to grow, and I want to double the size of my business in the next five years,” he says. “That’s my goal.”
However, Louis says he doesn’t feel like he can accomplish that goal if he keeps his business in Queensgate. He says the environment has changed over the past several years, and since the pandemic, it’s gotten worse.
One Logistics Network will be moving to Blue Ash in the coming weeks, according to Louis.
He says he’s moving there, “Because of their level of engagement, frankly. They called, they bugged me. They wanted us to be there, and that’s what sold me on it.”
That’s something he says he hasn’t gotten from Cincinnati.
Louis says he even sent a letter to multiple city leaders on Thursday about his concerns.
Crime is only one of the reasons Louis mentioned. The others were homelessness, drug abuse and road maintenance.
Louis says he hasn’t received a response from city leaders, but Cincinnati mayoral candidate Corey Bowman called him Friday morning after seeing the letter.
“The first phone call I got today was from him asking me a million questions. What can we do in the city to make this a business-friendly environment, because today it’s not business-friendly? It is not.”
Louis says at this point, he has no plans on reversing his decision to move, even if he were to hear from Cincinnati city leaders.
“I am disappointed,” he said. “I am thoroughly disappointed. As a business, I am encouraged to go to another area, but I love Cincinnati. I don’t want to leave here, but I have to do what’s best for my business, and I have to attract talent, and frankly, doesn’t want to come down here anymore.”
