The Detroit Tigers return home to begin a three-game series against the New York Mets, which kicks off on Labor Day.
The Tigers come off a needed series win this past weekend in order to keep their distance near the top of the American League Central. In the team’s second straight weekend series against the Kansas City Royals, Detroit managed to win two of the three games, including a 5-0 win on Sunday.

Monday’s contest will be the Tigers’ first game at Comerica Park in eight days.
Before beginning their three-game series against the Royals on Friday, the Tigers had a poor showing in California. In the team’s first trip to Sacramento, Detroit was vastly inconsistent against one of the worst teams in baseball, dropping all three games against the Athletics, losing by a combined score of 22-9.
The Tigers return to Comerica Park, where they are one of five teams in Major League Baseball to have 44 wins at home so far. One of those teams is the New York Mets, who are trying to hold onto one of the last Wild Card spots in the National League, while trying to keep up with the Philadelphia Phillies in the race for first place in the NL East.
The Tigers won two of three against the Mets in Queens last season.
