Most of Thursday will be quiet, but a cold front will enter into the Sioux City forecast on Friday

SIOUX CITY (KTIV) – Wednesday had a dreary start to the day, but the afternoon brought sunshine, warm temperatures and some humidity. Today will be a bit warmer before a cold front moves in tonight and tomorrow.

THURSDAY

Some low clouds are overhead in eastern Siouxland this morning and those could stick around through mid-morning making for a gloomy start to the day. However, most of us have a fairly clear sky and will have some sunshine through the first half of the day.

Around lunchtime, clouds will begin to increase as a cold front nears from the west. Ahead of this front, a breezy southerly wind up to 30mph will make for a warm and muggy day. Temperatures will peak near 80 and with a dew point near 60, the humidity will be noticeable.

Rain and some rumbles of thunder will begin in far western Siouxland (west of Highway 81) mid-afternoon. Most of the rain will stay concentrated out there until after sunset.

THURSDAY NIGHT

A broken line of showers will move east overnight. If you have a rain shower, totals will stay light, likely below a tenth of an inch. The clouds and a south wind will keep temperatures mild overnight. Lows will range in the mid and upper 50s.

FRIDAY

A few lingering showers are expected in far eastern Siouxland until noon. Otherwise, clouds will clear behind the cold front to make for a fairly nice end to the week. Temperatures will be a bit cooler than Thursday, peaking in the low 70s.

The weather is looking clear for Friday Night Football. Temperatures will range in the 70s then fall into the 60s after sunset.

WEEKEND FORECAST

Fall-like temperatures will settle in for the weekend. Saturday will start chilly with morning lows in the low 40s. The afternoon will bring highs in the low 60s and a chance for showers lasting into the evening. Rain totals could range from a tenth to a quarter of an inch. A few showers could linger Saturday night in eastern Siouxland.

Lows could bottom out in the mid 30s on Sunday morning which would be cool enough for frost to develop. However, there will be a slight wind around 10mph which would prevent frost development. The KTIV First Alert Weather Team will keep watch on the potential for frost.

Sunday afternoon will be nicer than Saturday and the pick day of the weekend to get outside! Highs will be in the mid 60s with plentiful sunshine.

NEXT WEEK

Another cold front will bring isolated showers on Monday afternoon. Temperatures will reach the upper 60s as we kick off the new week.

Behind the front, a stretch of nice fall weather will begin. Highs could stay in the upper 50s on Tuesday with a breeze of 20-30mph.

High temperatures will level off in the low 60s through mid-week.
