The Indiana Fever have now won four straight games after defeating the Dallas Wings 88-78 on the road Friday evening.
Indiana played without star guard Caitlin Clark, who has missed six straight games with a right groin injury. Kelsey Mitchell led the team with 23 points, while Aari McDonald, who has stepped into the starting lineup for Clark, added 15 points and six assists.
Natasha Howard and Aliyah Boston led a dominant effort on the boards, where the Fever out-rebounded the Wings 44-30. Howard posted an 11-point, 16-rebound, five-assist night, while Boston added 12 points, 11 boards, five assists and three steals.
For Dallas, rookie All-Star guard Paige Bueckers dominated with 22 points on 7-of-14 shooting (8-of-8 from the free throw line). She was the only Dallas player to score in double digits on a night where the team made just 2-of-15 three-pointers.
Meanwhile, Indiana made 12 threes on 28 attempts (43 percent), and turned out to be the big difference here.
Indiana and Dallas were tied at 22 after one quarter before the Fever slowly pulled away. The Fever led 48-42 at halftime and 70-57 after the third. Dallas cut the lead to six (75-69) in the fourth, but Indiana responded with a 9-2 run.
With the win, Indiana improved to 16-13, good enough for sixth in the 13-team WNBA. The 8-21 Wings sit 11th.
